The resident companion shall assist the nursing staff in carrying out designated basic nursing duties for the resident.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

* Sets up, serves, collects, and breaks down meal trays.

* Assists residents with their meals.

* Feeds those residents who are unable to feed themselves.

* Makes unoccupied beds.

* Cleans and organizes the residents' rooms and other areas of the nursing unit.

* Transports residents.

* Distributes water, applies arm bands, and cleans break room.

* Perform other duties as requested.

**Job Qualifications**

* Education and Training/Experience

+ Must be at least 16 years of age.

+ Customer Service: 1 year

+ Verbal ability to communicate with residents

+ Ability to understand instructions from the nursing staff

+ Must be patient, tactful, and kind when approaching residents
